The best app that provides real-time information to the community on the applicable dog rules (off-leash, on-leash, prohibited) which apply to their current location, nearby location and throughout the City of Greater Geelong. This app will assist the community in understanding the dog control rules, identify opportunities to exercise their dogs either on or off the leash and reduce the requirements for signage in open space and green areas.
Council stakeholders: Health and Local Laws, Information Services Requirements: An app that is accessible by all mobile platforms which integrates the spatial data relating to dog control areas and real-time GPS functionality. Suggestions: • Generally, the majority of areas in CoGG are "on-lead" by default. Only those areas which have been declared as dog control zones have different rules. • The land managed by Bellarine Bayside Committee of Management do not have declared dog zones and will not be included in the data. • Some dog control zones change based on times of the day or with date ranges. • Intergrating a layer for identifying public waste bin locations would be advantageous, so people can dispose of dog waste. Data suggestions: • Dog control areas • Public waste bin locations
